Signal Processing

Many of our SIGINT systems are based on the DRS FFT ASIC, the latest FPGA technology and DSP software. Our stand-alone PCI products can turn your inexpensive server into a real-time DSP processing system, with wideband high sample rate signal inputs, 4N Polyphase Filters, large forward and inverse FFT's (512K), wideband tuners, resamplers, and high channel count sub-band tuners.

PISTOL 350 SPECTRUM ANALYZER / SPECTRUM DISPLAY SYSTEM

The Pistol 350 meets the real time demands of both wideband signal search and high resolution narrowband analysis.

The Pistol 350 is an all-digital spectrum analysis instrument targeted for Low-Probability-of-Intercept (LPI) signal detection and high-resolution spectral analysis. It was developed to bridge the gap between traditional continuous swept-tuned analyzers and wideband snapshot analyzers. Typical applications include ELINT pulse analysis, short-duration signal detection, general SIGINT signal search and survey, as well as high-resolution multi-bandwidth signal analysis.
With the demanding signal environment of modern waveforms, SIGINT collectors require high performance search and survey systems to monitor new signals of interest. In the past, this would require operators to tune receivers, deploy demodulators, adjust spectrum analyzers, and snapshot data segments of interest for further analysis. In typical operational scenarios demanding rapid search of large amounts of bandwidth, an operator can be overwhelmed by a requirement to search quickly while also conducting detailed analysis of low-SNR and burst signals. This requires wideband spectral analysis on the order of 10's of MHz, yet operators demand high-resolution displays to aid in signal recognition. The Pistol 350 meets these requirements with 2 Hz - 2 KHz resolution while continuously analyzing a 50 MHz bandwidth and by providing dual displays for falling rasters or zooming in.

96 CHANNEL WIDEBAND PCI TUNER MODEL 2080-1061

The DRS IAS Model 2080-1061 is a new high-speed PCI based Tuner system. The PCI tuner board contains 96
individual tuners, each capable of bandwidths up to 1Mhz. Any tuner can be connected to any one of the three A/D converters. Each tuner can be started and stopped individually, tuned "On-the-Fly," and have different bandwidth settings. The A/D converters can be clocked using an external or internal clock. Sample rates can be up to 100 MHz.

Digital Sub-band PCI Tuner Model 2080-1064

The DRS IAS Model 2080-1064 is a new PCI based digital sub-band Tuner system. The PCI tuner board supports SDDS GigE I/O and contains 48 individual tuners. Each sub-band tuner is capable of bandwidths up to 3Mhz.
SDDS Fan-In (up to four Pre-D basebands) is supported, and any tuner can be connected to any one of baseband inputs. Wideband Pre-D is also available for output along with the sub-band tuner channels. Each tuner can be started and stopped individually, tuned "On-the-Fly," and have different bandwidth settings. The 2080-1064 supports all SDDS rates.

Bank of Tuners Model 7300

DRS’s Model 7300 is a new Gigabit Ethernet based digital tuner system. It supports
single or multiple users, allowing access to hundreds or thousands (with multiple units) of digital sub-band channels. GigE Inputs and Outputs are compatible with COTS routers and switches.
The four GigE inputs allow a fan-in of up to 16 total basebands. Each input port supports an aggregate data payload rate of 100 Mbytes/sec.
A flexible crossbar architecture allows any input baseband to be routed to any of the 96 Graychip tuners. There are four channels per Graychip, for a total of 384 channels per system. Each of the 8 GigE output ports support up to 100 Mbytes/sec.

PCI Express Model 2090

DRS’s Model 2090 PCI Express Interface card provides high performance data transfers between external data sources and the Host computer. The card is PCIe (8x) and supports bus transfer rates up to 2 Gigabytes per second in each direction.
Special purpose PCIe boards are needed to accelerate complex DSP functions even with continually advancing customer workstations.
These boards also solve the problem of converting various data formats and connector styles to and from the workstation.
